Kpop is built on African American hip hop culture. Yet they had the audacity to say keep blacks away from Kpop. Now Afrobeat is global, and they want to jump on it. Koreans stay off Afrobeat and Nigerian slangs. Gosh

this is why I don’t take kpop and even khh rappers seriously cause they always cosplay as these “tough gangstas” but have nothing to back that up. there’s only a few kpop rappers that I like, simply because of their delivery and flows, where there’s no botched AAVE or blaccent. I want some authenticity from them, like rap about things that truly bother or inspire you, be true to your real life persona instead of becoming a carbon copy of someone else.

It is possible that Aria’s company might have made her undergo skin whitening procedures, but tbh Indians have a really wide range when it comes to skin complexion. Pale w rosy flush, olive undertones, deep browns and even darker (and I must add that they are all lovely in their own right). Aria’s complexion really does not surprise because there are Indians who are naturally paler than her without any procedures. However, the main issue here is the obsession w pale, light skin and the abhorring disrespect shown towards artists/people who do not fit that ideal. I mean, look at Shriya’s beautiful skin that many from the western part of the world would absolutely die for. The more we open ourselves to different “flavours” of beauty, the more beautiful the world will begin to feel..
